After completing the self-evaluation task and inviting Center for Education Accreditation – Vietnam National University of Ho Chi Minh City to assess, this morning (September 14), the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City officially received the Certificate of Institutional Accreditation up to the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET).

Dr. Nguyen Thien Tue – Rector of the IUH – revealed that complying with the requirements about accreditation, in 2009, the University completed the Self-Evaluation Report and sent to the Department of Education Testing and Accreditation, and was organized the 1st counter-argument report by the University Education Project 2. In addition, the University carried out the administration procedure up to the ISO standards and was met the limited ISO quality standards from 2011 to 2014 by the TUV Organization of the Federal Republic of Germany. In 2015, the University continued conducting the testing and accreditation plan and the Office of Testing and Quality Assurance was asked to do this mission.
During the self-evaluation process, the University built up its activities which are based on the set of testing standards of university education quality enacted by the Ministry of Education and Training in 2007 and up to the testing standards of university education quality enacted by the Ministry of Education and Training in 2014. In December 2015, the University completed the self-evaluation task and invited the Center for Education Quality Assurance – Vietnam National University of Ho Chi Minh City to have the external accreditation (to organize the independent education accreditation). Before officially assessing, the delegation had the preliminary survey in the Main Campus in Ho Chi Minh City (January 22 and 23, 2016), Thanh Hoa Campus (February 25 and 26, 2016 ), Quang Ngai Campus (February 22 and 23, 2016 ). In March 2016, the external audit delegation came to assess the University officially. The result is that the University has achieved 49 among 61 criteria, accounting for 80.33% and is recognized to meet the educational quality standards by the Boards of Education Quality Accreditation of the Center for Education Accreditation.
Therefore, up to September 2016, the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City is the first university in the Southern Region and the third one nationwide to be granted the Certificate of Institutional Accreditation.

According to Dr. Nguyen Thien Tue, the results above are all the efforts and intelligence of the institution’s managers, lecturers, staff and students who have striven ceaselessly during the past five years. However, this is just a beginning step because the quality assurance activity is a regularly and constantly innovatory process to maintain and upgrade the training activity quality.
As he said, the University not only did the accreditation following the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training but also has enrolled to be tested in training programs complying with the AUN-QA standards (Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology; Environmental Engineering; Environment and Natural Resources Management; Business Administration; Accounting…) and 6 programs as ABET standards (Mechanical Engineering; Machine - Building Technology; Information Technology; Information Systems; Food Technology; Chemical Engineering). All these above programs will be accredited by international organizations in 2018, 2019 and 2020.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mai Van Trinh – Director General of the Department of Education Testing and Accreditation – said at the ceremony that to train the labor force that are well – qualified, able to adopt the change in the domestic and international market, and able to avoid being lost at the home country, it is required that the whole national education system as well as each training institution must act, try to innovate, create and have suitable steps. “ I highly appreciate that the IUH has actively set up its quality accreditation strategy logically and in the right way. The University is also honored to be one of the least pioneering units which are assessed and recognized the quality standards”, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Mai Van Trinh stressed.
