Deriving from the preoccupation that most of the last year students do not know how to write CVs and application letters effectively, the English Club which belongs to the Faculty of Foreign Language – IUH was held the second time on October 20th, 2018 to equip the seniors with official and formal writing skill necessary for hunting a job. This time workshop attracted more than 100 FFL fourth-year and third-year students as well as 4 German students who were eager to master the professional writing skills. Throughout the workshop, the senior students learnt how to “sell themselves” by highlighting their profile and achievements in a persuasive and concise manner. The participants got to know that successful CVs and cover letters not only help them draw attention to their relevant skills, experience, achievements and potential but also create such an impression on the employer that they will not be able to turn the candidates down for interview. Moreover, each participant had a chance to practice writing a CV and a cover letter right after each section in the workshop to win an award. Besides the productive academic content, the workshop also provided all students with games, songs, discussion, lucky draw… which definitely motivated students’ fond of learning. Definitely, the 2nd FFL English Club brought a lot of benefits for students to help them step into the world of work and be ready for the labour market.
